So far I've raised a grand total of $2,719 and 100% of every dollar goes directly to helping sick kids in need. Thank you Sarcastic Gamer and Children's Miracle Network for creating this event.
I always have a great time not only because I get to play video games for 24 hours straight, but streaming it live and encouraging the participation of my friends. Since I introduced the idea of challenges it's been super fun having people decide on games for me to play for an hour.
So why do I do this? I was never a sick kid, nor do I have any children of my own... but growing up I learned from my mother that you should give back when you can. I remember from my childhood, every 2 weeks (on my mother's payday) we would take a trip to the grocery store and pick up a large bag of dog food to donate to the local Animal Shelter. It was a fun activity that we did together and always felt good afterwards. She also donated to a few charities on her own. To be honest I never gave charity much thought after I moved out on my own. In 2008, I lost my mother to cancer. I know how devastating it can be to lose a loved one so close to your heart. We were best friends.
When I heard about Extra Life, gaming for 24 hours to raise money for sick kids, there was no question that I just had to participate. Everyone deserves a chance at life and if I can help, even just a little, count me in.
HUGE thanks to everyone who has donated to sponsor me for this event, it really means a lot. From the bottom of my heart. <3 There is no minimum donation amount and every dollar is appreciated. Your gift is tax deductible and everything goes to help the kids.
Please join me on October, 20th 2012 starting at noon (pacific time)
