About Me

Who am I?  Why am I doing this?

Hi.  My name is Amy and I play video games.

I currently reside in Portland, Oregon and loving every minute of it.
As long as I can remember I've always been fascinated by video games.  My parents were quite strict when it came to the subject so my only "fix" was whenever I'd spend time at a friend's place.
I was always too chicken to play but would love to watch.

By the time I was 19, I had a small bit of savings and was ready to move out into the real world.
I got into my first apartment and the first items I purchased... a TV and Playstation.  For some reason I felt excited and rebellious at the same time.  I was on my own and just knew that I'd love playing video games, even though I hadn't really done it before.
My first game?  Ah yes, I remember it like it was yesterday.

It was Final Fantasy VIII...and I was hooked.
Every night after work I'd spend hours playing that game.  Every possible summon and all the items/weapons I could get my virtual hands on. I had a blast leveling my characters and watching the story develop.

After that game was over, I branched out and discovered other games.  First person shooters grabbed my attention especially Red Faction and Timesplitters. Eventually I got an Xbox so I could join my co-workers when they would host Halo LAN parties.  Ah those were the days and I had a blast.  Of course the guys didn't like a girl being in the top 5 so they'd all team up against me.
RPGs were still my 'go-to' genre... I was so giddy when Final Fantasy X was finally released.  Shadow Hearts and Dark Cloud also became favorites of mine.

I had never really thought about PC gaming until one day I was staring at the wall of PC games for sale at a local store, and noticed one called "Everquest".  I picked up the box and was fascinated.  That's when I discovered and got hooked on my first MMORPG.  One and a half years later while hooked on EQ, I decided to give World of Warcraft a shot and that game quickly became my biggest addiction.  Raiding became like a 2nd job and I eventually got burnt out 6 years later.

During those 6 years I never really played any other games... it was WoW and WoW alone.

After hearing so much about Final Fantasy XIII I was really excited.  I wanted to get back into console RPGs and always knew the Final Fantasy series was a win for me.  So after I deactivated my WoW account I bought myself a Playstation 3 so I could play this glorious new FF game I kept hearing about.
I don't regret buying my Playstation 3... but FFXIII was not the game I was hoping for.  I managed to finish it but only because it was the only console game I owned at the time.

Six months and several PS3 games later I ended up purchasing an Xbox 360.  I really wanted to play Halo Reach with friends... taking me back to the good ol' days of Halo LAN parties.  After some awesome online game time with friends, I expanded my Xbox game library and managed to hit over 50k gamerscore my first year.

Now I'm currently expanding my console library and playing games alongside my amazing gamer boyfriend.
